Today was batty! But in the best possible way 🙂 Ryker and I had a few friends over to celebrate one of our favorite days.
7 kiddos and 5 little babies was a little crazy but those are the best kind of memories right?
We started off the day with Monster Cookie Decorating!
Ryker was pretty much “let’s get this in my belly as quickly as possible” but it seemed like some of the kiddos really had fun decorating and expressing their creativity 😉
I think the hit of the cookie decorating was definitely the ‘eyeballs’
If you too are planning any type of cookie decorating party – might I suggest a few things:
- Two Tablecloths – When using small spaces, like my house, I buy 2 disposable tablecloths. One for all the mess that you can quickly gather up and throw away and a second one to place down for lunch/food. It’s quick and easy to change and keeps messes to a minimal when you have a home full of littles.
- Save yourself some sanity and do pre-made sugar cookies! For my own little family, I love to bust out the cookie cutters and roll out fresh dough but for a ton of little toddlers these were perfect!
- Separate your icing and sprinkles/toppings – Next time I will definitely pre-portion icing for each kid so we don’t have to wait on sharing. Toddlers man… ya feel me?! Also, check that your sprinkles can shake out and not pour. Trust me on this one.
- Plastic knives. When I host parties – plastic all the way. Ain’t no mama have time to wash all those dishes! Pitch it and boom you’re done 🙂
We then moved on to Spooky art work.
I printed out some free Halloween coloring pages as a backup, but the two main crafts were making monster paper bags and also stamping pumpkins using half an apple! Really fun and really messy but that is why we had disposable tablecloths.
For lunch I made these spider sandwiches. I used peanut butter and honey and couldn’t find my circle cookie cutter so I just cut circles myself. Then I grabbed 8 pretzels for the legs! So easy!
I threw out some lady fingers (veggie straws) and some pumpkin rice crackers and of course every toddlers favorite… fruit snacks. My friend brought little cuties and her daughter drew pumpkin faces on them! I just served water and then of course leftover cookies.
It was a fun little last minute party and a scary good time :0
