I have so so many words I want to write to capture what the essence of our Paris trip felt like. I postponed this post because I honestly didn’t want to admit it was over, but it was.
paris smelled like cheap cigarettes, fresh bagettes & expensive perfume
it tasted like fine cheeses & puffed pastries
sounded like crisp leaves hitting the streets & metros rumbling below
paris felt like magic, creativity & romance
“You know, sometimes I think, how is anyone ever gonna come up with a book, or a painting, or a symphony, or a sculpture that can compete with a great city. You can’t.” -Midnight in Paris
Cam & I felt like teenagers again. Staying up late walking the cobblestones streets of Paris, sleeping in late, eating whateva the heck we came across, running hand in hand to catch trains, & just taking the time to appreciate the city.
We have loved each adventure we have been on, but this was the first big trip together since Ryker and without him. Although we missed his soooo much & might I add – way more than he missed us, I think we appreciated time as a couple more than any of our other trips.
We never like to be tourists in a city so we quickly see the big sites & move on to the small alleyways but we really slowed down this trip. We walked on average 10 miles a day with a few 12 mile days which was good because we also averaged eating 10 macaroons a day!
