Many people know that Mother’s Day and I don’t always see eye to eye. Two years ago, 5 months fresh into my new adventure as a mother, I was asked to give a talk in church on Mother’s Day (of all days). It was scary and hard but one of my favorite parts was this poem:
Who taught us to love God, to love others, to love ourselves? Who prayed with us, prayed for us? Who read to us and taught us what the words meant? It was mom.
Who was the champion, the cheerleader, the chief inspiring officer? Who was the queen of bed time, dinner time, holidays, holy days, early mornings, late nights, music lessons, life lessons and everything we cling to with all our hearts.
It was. It is. And forever will be… mom.
Many of you know that I lost my Mom to breast cancer – 4 days before my birthday, 3 weeks before Mother’s Day and 5 weeks before my second son is due.
